DIRECTOR'S STATEMENT

 

Animal Room was my first feature film, a real trial by fire. An explosive testament to the lives of a group of high school students, the film is an exploration of their relationships and torments. Lead by Neal Patrick Harris, a student dealing with his own private hell, and Matthew Lilliard, this high-stakes drama takes place long before safe-spaces were ever a thing. The film reflects a violent undercurrent of teen life which, has sadly, only gotten worse with the advent of social media. The powerful story invites interpretation—what is safe?

 

Originally shot on 35mm film, this newly released Director’s cut of Animal Room is a complete 4K transfer with fully re-imagined editing, music and color-timing, even the poster and trailers are new.

 

Now Animal Room is ready to be rediscovered by today's audience, who will experience the journey and cast in ways never imagined.
